ChatGPT Part 1: A Revolutionary Efficiency Tool When Used Intelligently

By now, you’ve heard much about ChatGPT. Thought leaders sing its praises and warn of its shortcomings.

You may have started using it to see what its capabilities are, to satisfy your curiosity and perhaps even to increase efficiency with your work or home life.

If you’re a business owner, writer or marketer intrigued by but unsure of how ChatGPT might benefit you, you’re in the right place.

Here’s a short, practical point of view.

You’ll discover what ChatGPT is, how it’s being put to good use, and how it can increase productivity, save time and make your job easier overall.

So, what is ChatGPT? We went ahead and asked it!

Before we dive into this AI tool, let’s put ChatGPT to task by asking it to describe itself to us (the answer is a little lengthy, but keep reading because it explains a lot):

“What exactly is ChatGPT and how does it work?”

ChatGPT is a large language model developed by OpenAI, based on the GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) architecture. It is a form of artificial intelligence (AI) designed to process natural language input from humans and generate natural language output in response.

The GPT architecture used by ChatGPT is a deep neural network that has been pre-trained on large amounts of text data, allowing it to learn the patterns and relationships in language. This pre-training allows ChatGPT to understand the context of a given input and generate appropriate responses, even when the input is ambiguous or incomplete.

When a user interacts with ChatGPT, their input is first processed by the model’s input layer, which converts the text into a numerical representation that the model can work with. The input is then passed through multiple layers of neural networks, each of which performs a different function in processing the input and generating an output.

The output generated by ChatGPT is also in the form of natural language text, which can be further processed and formatted for display or integration with other applications.

Overall, ChatGPT is a powerful tool for natural language processing and generation, and its ability to understand context and generate human-like responses has many potential applications in areas such as customer service, language translation, and conversational AI.” — ChatGPT (describing itself)

While more than a mouthful of detail, the definition also demonstrates how powerful ChatGPT can be, especially in using mostly conversational language to convey complex ideas.

When It Comes to Practical Uses for ChatGPT, We’re Adapters

At TruStar, we explore many of the latest productivity tools like ChatGPT because we embrace better tech solutions with a reasonable amount of gusto. Our goal is to increase efficiency within our organization and our lives, and more importantly, to help our clients benefit from our leadership style of “in the trenches” expertise.

Our team includes many ChatGPT users, including Senior Analytics Manager Edwin Acevedo, who serves on the board for AMA Nashville and recently helped organize a Nashville ChatGPT AMA exploration evening.

Edwin gives us his take on the current and future trends surrounding the popular AI tool:

“There’s going to be a point when writing ChatGPT prompts will be a ubiquitous skill, like formatting Word documents or generating memes. We’re still in the getting-to-know-you phase of the relationship.”

So, how are we at TruStar utilizing ChatGPT for our internal processes and clients? We’re doing so in several ways, and we’re just getting started.

  • When creating process documents internally, we give ChatGPT specific parameters and it generates first drafts. For example, you may use it to start writing your PTO policy.
  • If any of our copy is too long, we may ask ChatGPT to condense it.
  • If we have content that needs to be written for multiple audiences, we may write the draft for a major audience and then ask ChatGPT to edit it for other audiences, which are clearly defined.
  • When creating guides, covering complex topics or validating content, we look to ChatGPT to help identify missing components or fill in some of the gaps.
  • We sometimes ask for ideas on subject lines – always focusing on those that are proven to lift opens.

However, as we explore ChatGPT, remember that we check and verify every bit of information we receive. We have seen it generate total errors in information too. As active users, we also proactively help our clients better understand what to expect and how to get the most efficiency from today’s marketing tech. Because as quickly as ChatGPT evolves, our knowledge and application expertise must evolve with it.

Leveraging Our Know-How for Your Own Benefit

The use cases for how your business can benefit from ChatGPT are almost endless. Having a trusted partner already well versed in emerging technologies like AI is a smart, time-saving decision.

Whether it’s using ChatGPT to help with content, processes and policy writing or formula creation, the future is here. All that’s required is a bit of help navigating these exciting new waters of possibility.

“Early adopters are having fun and looking at ways to save both hours and brain power,” Acevedo said. “ChatGPT can make you that much more efficient. It’s a really exciting time. But – again – be sure to check the facts before relying on the answers delivered. Human intervention is not a suggestion. It is a requirement.”

And as ChatGPT evolves, its potential as an indispensable tool will grow as well.

If you need guidance, we’re here to help. TruStar’s digital marketers and expert writers love and use ChatGPT while adhering to ever-evolving best practices. Talk to us today about how we can bring your brand and content to life.
